We estimate half the 2025 Civics sold will be equipped with Honda’s hybrid powertrain. Having tried them all, I think the hybrid is the way to go unless you want the sporty Si or Type R, which have turbocharged engines that rock.
We love it. The paddles are also a great reminder that somewhere between 5% and 20% of your energy is not from liquid fuel, but electricity, the Civic harvests from coating, slowing, and braking.
Why buy a Civic in 2025? It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a front wheel drive car with a design that is intended to make it an ideal daily driver, vacation car, and family car.

The 2025 Civic hatchback is nothing like my little two-door 1993 Civic Si. Yet, when I am in the new Civic, I can still feel that same vibe.
However, Honda has earned a solid reputation for quality. We looked over the Civic’s scores on prior years of the Consumer Reports reliability rankings and would suggest that any model after and including 2017 is a good bet.
Our advice? Go for the hatchback. To our eyes, it's better looking, and the sizeable cargo area makes a big difference in carrying capacity, especially for a buyer who doesn't already have a small crossover in the driveway.

So, you are a die-hard Honda shopper and owner, and you are going to buy a practical Honda in the Civic’s price range but you really want/need all-wheel drive.
